Study finds students on Twitter are more successful

A new study found that students who used Twitter for “educationally relevant purposes” were more engaged and earned higher grades than their Tweet-free peers.  Abstract here (we don’t have access to full text but I’ll try to get it by interlibrary loan).

I doubt that it’s Twitter itself that causes better grades; rather that learning improves when students / teachers have an open, ongoing line of communication.

Chronicle of Higher Ed has a short review.
